Only mid-way through October, and already I’m fed up of the weather. In need of some RnR and a dose of sun, I gave myself an instant gap year makeover, and headed off to enjoy the beach. What? Of course it’s seasonal – I’m wearing orange, aren’t I?!
The Kavi top from Zaara’s latest release was my starting point, a casual but oh so pretty piece, it’s soft ruffle neckline leading the eye down to the cinched waist, the sash beautifully drawn to meet the sculptie knot. Here I’ve chosen the short version of the top with the flexi-prim bottom to show off the stunning chikankari embroidery. A traditional Indian technique this reminds me somewhat of broderie Anglaise, white thread accenting the cutwork. Zaara has used alpha to great success – as you move you can see the fabric beneath the shifting prims. If you want more coverage, or to keep it lower lag, there’s also a system only option available, particularly effective on the jacket layer. I’m showing the top in orange here, but there are a total of six colour options available in warm and cool tones. The system layer is cleverly drawn, with a certain degree of sheer, but only where it’s safe, the transparency well balanced to show a glimpse of bra or bikini, the highlighting on your skin’s back, but ensuring that the most intimate spots are fully PG!
I chose the sheer muslin fisherman’s trousers from Shai to co-ordinate. Loose and flowing, the perfect beach coverup, with an optional prim waist tie which I decided not to wear for fear of cluttering the look too much. To preserve my dignity, the orange print ‘kini from PixelDolls was a wonderful colour match.
A top from the Indian sub-continent, pants from SE Asia, geta sandals for strolling on the beach… and then I go and add in the stunning Navajo style beadwork jewelry from Studio Sidhe, along with the very New Age belt, originally in pewter, but tinted to blend in better with the outfit. I stopped by Studio Sidhe yesterday on my morning coffee break (to hunt for lucky pumpkins) and was fortunate enough to run into owner Faery Sola who most graciously gave me a tour. The jewelry here is wonderful for casual wear, but the details have certainly not been skipped – just look at the crispness of the beadwork for example. Chocolate Orange (gotta love that name – “It’s not Terry’s, it’s mine”) is also a great spot just to hang out, or maybe for a photoshoot with a great build and 5ifth Order poses scattered around for your pleasure.
Oh, and many thanks to Cajsa Lilliehook of It’s Only Fashion and MDR for the texture used as the background in the studio picture. This is a gift folks – if you use a photostudio, stop by and add some new backgrounds to your collection.
