Quick Look: Camila

AnnaH Whitfield released the Camila dress last weekend, just in time for it to be showcased at the Kudos fashion show to much positive feedback from the audience.  An adorable cocktail dress, featuring a sculptie bubble skirt with bows trimming the back, you’ll have seen this on the feeds over the last few days.  Phoebe Petrov and Luna Jubilee both showed what a sweet evening frock it can make, perfect for an informal gathering with friends where you still want to look your best, and Kay Fairey shared her fantasy outfit with us.  So I wanted to do something a little more cute and casual, perhaps for a day out shopping with the girls.

Taking my cue from darling of the British fashion press, Alexa Chung, I really wanted to throw a baggy jacket over this, but none of the ones I tried were big enough to skim over the floofy poofy sculptie skirt, which is only to be expected, as more often than not, we’re looking for a slimmer line.  Not to be dissuaded, I hunted round Bare Rose, sure that June Dion would have a suitable cropped jacket somewhere, and the Nora denim crop was just the thing.  Alexa is famed for her layering, and for her legs, so instead of pants, I went with slightly opaque tights, finished with slouchy socks and bright heels to co-ordinate with the dress.

A capacious bag is a requisite for ferrying those essentials between front row at the shows and the TV studio, and Miam Miam’s colour change tote was a good match.  Pearlie Pedro is now part of the team behind Viva la Glam and due to her recent abduction by aliens doesn’t have a store at the moment, and I must admit I don’t recall seeing this bag on sale at VG Republic, so it’s probably now retired.  (But I did see some yummilicious sculptie tote’s at SLink, where you can also get the simple yet striking jewelry.)  The slightly mussed-up Luth hair from Philotic was ideal for the casual chic look, and a slick of red lipstick on the fresh and glowing Curio skin by Gala Phoenix ties the whole together.
