So it’s Independence Day for our American cousins, and star-spangled banners are shimmying and wiggling on lady bits all over the grid. But not here at Efemeral Style. For one thing, I’m a Brit, and for another it’s just not me! The holiday has however brought us some real treats, like Icing’s sale off all red, white or blue outfits, and of course, it would be churlish of me to decline such a kind gesture from a talented creator.
Now, if I were to compose a timeline for this set of outfits, it’d probably run along the lines of: Fast girl from wrong side of the tracks, finds her innocence and Mr Right, but still can’t help dancing on the bar at the end of a night out – which is doable, but you know, I might be stretching credibility. So lets scratch that and get to the goodies!!
For my red outfit, I selected the Puma Jie high-waisted skirt and blouse set – red and black are very much my colours so it was something of a no-brainer! This outfit was all over the fashion feed on it’s release, and rightly so. The skirt is super slinky (system skirt love) and the prim sleeves of the blouse are just poofy enough. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to pull out Old Gravy’s DarkChyld hair, and the cigarette from FNKY just adds the finishing touch to the bad girl look!
It was much harder selecting my white outfit, but the gorgeous embroidery of the Pleasantville dress won out in the end. This look is crisp and fresh – as suitable for a day in the park as an informal evening engagement. My only tiny bugbear is that the ribbon on the system blouse is tapered in to the bow, which is great if bows are your thing, but in honesty, they’re not really for me so it would be nice to have the option to wear the dress without. Shoes are from Maitreya (yes, again, they’re my favourite shoe dealer, mkay?) and the hair is a regular “go to” from ETD.
I’m wearing the same jewelry in all of these shots – a colour change set from EarthTones called Juliette. Now, a lot of the time colour change is bad, bad, bad. Yes, I too bought those vile colour change prim shoes that glow in the dark when I started playing *shudders* but all of the colours I chose whilst experimenting for this set worked really well against the crystal texture, and I do like to have options!!
And next… the blue! Surprised much? So, the beautiful deep colour and silky shimmer was the draw for me here, and I was even more thrilled with my choice when I tried it on and saw the swish. I just adore the way this skirt moves. The blue in Maitreya’s Verve pumps were the perfect colour match, and I went for Philotic Energy’s Tierney hair, in keeping with the whole retro vibe. Now, you may be wondering what on earth that close up is about. Look closely – can you spot the hair out of place? That little tendril behind my ear is the only loose lock on this updo, but a tiny flaw emphasises the whole and it’s little details like this that set a great creator apart from just a good one.
I would really have liked to have done my location shots at Artilleri’s sim, but because my RL has been so hectic this week, I’ve shot this post in parts and needed to be able to work without worrying about too many bodies getting into shot and having to wait for them to clear frame. Luckily I found the cute but quiet Silver King Grill on Ranunculus.
Now, I may have saved the best for last. Whilst I was at Icing, I spotted a freebie bag I hadn’t noticed before. Now, just because I hadn’t noticed, doesn’t mean it hasn’t been there months, but I figure if I’ve not spotted it before, maybe you haven’t either. I picked up the bag, and took a quick peek when I got home. I was astounded to find sixteen skins inside! They’re Eloh mods based on the seven deadly sins, and one stray virtue, with two brow options. I’ve used option one throughout, but if you prefer a thicker brow, option two is for you. From left to right: Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Pride, Sloth, Wrath and Humility.

Awesome outfits. I really love the way you captured the red, white and blue…in outfits that are year round delights.
Thanks Cajsa! I do prefer clothes I can get a lot of potential wear out of, especially easy with such classics as these.
